The Opportunity

The nature of the work is focused on the appearance of product, communications, or collateral materials.

Product Design - With direction from Design and Category management, uses advanced design skills to create original, innovative concepts and designs that appropriately reflect Nike's design philosophy & standards. Advances design image, product performance, and inspires targeted consumers. Contributes to seasonal creative strategy for products and line segments.

Design Execution - proactively follows the execution of all product details including: construction detail, color, form, style, detail, fit performance, graphic application, trim, etc. Reviews samples and clearly communicates changes to ensure timely completion of each project. Leverages excellent knowledge and practice in all phases of product execution; trains more junior designers on knowledge and advancements. Process/Timeline - Works with design leadership and Category team advancements.

Process/Timeline - Works with design leadership and Category team members in Design, Development, and Product Management to ensure feasibility of designs, meeting price points, mechandizing needs and product creation timelines.

Communication - Communicates and presents design concepts to various internal and external audiences along with Expert Designer. Produces presentation materials in conjunction with the Design and Category teams that effectively communicate the concept behind the line for internal and external audiences.

Skill/Knowledge Development - Proactively works with Design management Skill/Knowledge

Development - Proactively works with Design management and Expert Designers to refine personal portfolio of design skills, experiences, and product/process knowledge. Provides design support for design team as needed outside of assigned product load; mentors more junior designers.

What You'll Be Working On

Skills

• Minimum of 6 years progressively technically sophisticated experience in product design.
• Ability to manage up to 3-4 projects per season at any level up to A.
• Proven advanced ability to apply and perform design skills (drawing/sketching, ideation, color theory, texture, visual presentation).
• Knowledge and sensitivity to trends influencing design in athletic industry.
• Demonstrated ability to create market-appropriate product designs within set timelines.
• Effective use of computer design applications.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to make persuasive presentations to senior management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  
  

Education

• Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 6 years directly relevant work experience Note: One of the following alternatives may be accepted: PhD or Law + 3 yrs; Masters + 4 yrs; Associates degree + 6 yrs; High School + 7 yrs.
