Day to Day
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Manager of Software Engineering (Security) to join our Product Security Engineering team. This team works with the rest of Indeed’s security teams to identify, design, build, and improve product security services, tools and processes to improve Indeed’s product security. Your subject matter expertise, business alignment skills, and ability to influence stakeholders across the product and engineering teams will make you successful.
You will help interpret our risk profile and opportunities and define and execute a roadmap for current and future security capabilities. You will partner with Indeed’s product and engineering teams throughout this process and work towards company-wide adoption of these capabilities. Current security capabilities that you will be responsible for include:
- A workload identity platform rooted in zero trust principles that uses SPIFFE/SPIRE to provision cryptographically backed identities to all of Indeed’s workloads, eliminate API keys and other long-lived secrets, ensure unique credentials for each workload, and simplify workload identity for Indeed’s engineers. - A malware scanning capability to ensure that Indeed does not ingest malware or pass it on to our customers

Responsibilities
- Own the vision, strategy, roadmap and OKRs for the Security Software Engineering team
- Cultivate relationships with stakeholders across Security, Product, and Engineering teams and drive adoption of security solutions
- Mentor, grow and enable new team members and experienced senior engineers
- Provide guidance and assistance that enables the team to self-organize and to achieve sustained high velocity and predictability
- Raise the technical bar of the team by setting clear priorities and processes
- Coordinate with partners in Security to define, measure, prioritize and address security risks
- Demonstrate an excitement for addressing intricate security engineering challenges at global scale
Skills/Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Security, Information Systems or Computer Science or equilvent fields is accepted
- 7 years of software engineering experience and 3 years of software engineering management experience, with 3 years either:
- Security experience with technologies such as encryption, key/certificate management, zero trust, authentication/authorization, identity and access management (IAM) or similar
- Large-scale distributed systems experience and a high degree of security aptitude
- Unwavering focus on customer experience; you will succeed by making the right and secure thing to do the easy thing to do for Indeed’s engineers
- Ability to manage key customer relationships, including with senior managers and directors, and to influence cross-functional teams to accomplish security goals
- Proficiency in at least one programming language and experience with development tools and environments such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, etc

San Francisco, Bay Area 213,000 - 308,000 USD per year

Salary Range Disclaimer
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
